Here at Megli Farms we handle all things sheep! We have found an American Supplier for Sheep Pelts, there are many overseas suppliers of pelts, but they are not held to the same standards as American Companies in the use of chemicals nor are they held responsible to our Labor laws. For these reasons, we have searched for a reputable American Company selling American products and we are happy to report that we have been successful!

MegliFarm Felts!

We can find references to the use of wool in the form of felt as early as 2700 BC by the early Sumerians. After a long period of research, MegliFarm has decided that who are we to argue with 2 million dead Sumerians? So we have perfected the MegliFarm felting machine!

This is a true MegliFarm product and has never been subjected to harsh chemicals or dyes. We shear and clean the fleece, then we send it to our dear friends at StoneHedge Fiber and Farm and have them wash and card the fleece into felting batts for us. When the batts return, we carefully place the fiber on the felting bed and cross link the fiber layers, often we will place a layer of Border Leicester in the middle for strength, you can order exactly the type of felt that you would like and we will custom build your felt for you! On light weight flat felt please only specify three layers.

Our flat felt is approximately 42 x 42 inches, the weight of the piece is determined by how much wool is in each piece, we will felt pieces to your specification.

We also make saddle blankets from 3/8 inch thick to 5/8 inch thick in varying sizes from 30 x 30 to 42 x 42, we make these in natural colored browns and silvers.

Pricing is a little complicated so we will give an example:
